VAGANOVA TEACHER SEMINAR
with
Mansur Kamaletdinov, Master Ballet Teacher
Former Principal Dancer, Teacher, Ballet Master, Choreographer and
Acting Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Ballet.

PITTSBURGH, PA
AUGUST 21-23, 2008

“Dedicated to the greatest poet of dance.” -Mansur Kamaletdinov

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This special three day seminar for teachers and ballet professionals will focus on the major variations from the greatest Classical ballets of all time as choreographed by Marius Petipa, the creator of these works. The focus will be not only on learning the variations themselves in the original, but on learning how to teach them to your students.

Mansur’s students will act as demonstrators and assistants during the seminar. The Seminar is interactive so that participating teachers will be able to gather hands on experience instructing the dancers through the teaching of techniques they acquire and learn. Teachers are welcome to bring one of their students free of charge. The program will also give a thorough understanding of Classical Exercise and Technique and the methods for properly teaching students to prepare for learning Repertoire. This seminar provides over 22 hours of instruction time and the chance of a lifetime to study with a Ballet Master with over 60 years of teaching experience and who provides an unbroken link from the creators of these master works.
