DECEMBER 2007 VAGANOVA TEACHER SEMINAR
with
Mansur Kamaletdinov, Master Ballet Teacher
Former Principal Dancer, Teacher, Ballet Master, Choreographer and
Acting Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Ballet.

PITTSBURGH, PA
DECEMBER 27-30, 2007

This special four day Teacher Seminar will cover Russian Technique Class, Pointe Class, Character Class and Repertoire from Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty and Michel Fokine's Dying Swan. This seminar will hand down to teachers and students the original choreography of these ballets and demonstrate to teachers how to instruct their own students in this Repertoire. Mansur studied directly with Alexander Shirayev, Marius Petipa's assistant, and teaches the closest surviving choreography to the original as conceived by Marius Petipa and Michel Fokine.

Mansur’s students will act as demonstrators and assistants during the seminar. The Seminar is interactive so that participating teachers will be able to gather hands on experience instructing the dancers through the teaching of techniques they acquire and learn. Teachers are welcome to bring one of their students free of charge. The program will also give a thorough understanding of Classical Exercise and Technique and the methods for properly teaching students to prepare for learning Repertoire. This seminar provides 28 hours of instruction time and the chance of a lifetime to study with a Ballet Master with over 60 years of teaching experience and who provides an unbroken link from the creators of these master works.
